Sommersieg has a high energy potential and is one of the horses who needs a lot exercising to stay physically and mentally stable. Boredom is his biggest enemy and he must stay in motion constantly. This of course makes him challenging to handle and as a rider you must be able to think two steps ahead because Sommersieg already thought one ahead. He doesn't shy away to take the lead and make decisions if the rider doesn't assert himself. The stallion must be ridden with a firm hand and respectfully.

If a person can't get the respect from Sommersieg he behaves difficult, but not in an uncontrollable way but in an annoying way. For example he loves to put his head up everytime he gets the halter or bridle on or he intentionally steps on the foot. He even tries to make handlers fall, not to use the moment for escaping. He will calmly stand there like nothing happens and make you look like a fool. He also likes to start pooping the moment someone is behind him. He is a bully.

He is an excellent sport horse if you bring him to the level he needs and maintain it. Its powerful jumping skills makes him ideal for show jumping or cross country riding. Besides that, Sommersieg is brave enough for difficult terrain.

Even the stallion seems to be solitude because he prefers to not interact with horses passing by much; he also showed that he can be an active leader in a group of geldings. But his energetic and harsh manners often lead to problems and disputes in herds. His ideal companion is a gelding on a similar high energy level than him.

During the days of “thousand flies” in the warm months he is constantly in a bad mood when he has flies and other flying insects around him.

His favorite treat is pears.
